May half-term camping

May half-term is the connoisseur's family camping week: long light evenings, warm days, bluebells finishing in the woods, and every site quieter and cheaper than it will be again until September. If you can only camp one school-holiday week this year, make it this one.

Nearly every site in the guide is open and hitting its stride. Rivers are still fresh rather than freezing, the big parks' pools are open, and evening campfires still earn their keep.

51 of our 52 sites are open, showing the 12 closest to SN7

Where should we camp for May half-term near Oxford?

Almost everywhere in this guide is open and at its best. For full facilities choose Lincoln Farm Park or Hoburne Cotswold before the summer crowds; for campfires and quiet choose Holycombe, Evelyn's Garden or the Trout's meadow at Tadpole Bridge. Book by March for the popular small sites.
